Of special interest to those with teaching responsibilities, this is probably the most high-spirited handbook of freshman composition out there. It harnesses the trope of the mad scientist in a lab trying to bring life to a monster to teach the basics of composition. The zaniness serves to keep students engaged and ready to absorb the advice which is thorough and sound. Something of a miracle, this is a composition handbook that students might actually read and heed.
